Enhancing Features for Herbalife's Global POS App: Engage®

Introduction

The HL Engage® Mobile application, a key component of Herbalife's e-commerce platform, was specifically designed to enhance the experience for Preferred Members and Customers. By enabling users to place orders, find nearby nutrition clubs, and connect with club coaches—all from their mobile devices—this application aimed to simplify access to Herbalife products and services.

Problem Statement

The HL Engage® Mobile application, despite its initial benefits, has encountered significant limitations that affect user satisfaction and operational efficiency. Key functionalities are missing, such as customization options for order sizes, milk types, and shake flavors. Additionally, important features like effective search capabilities and the ability to accommodate special customer requests have not been integrated. These limitations not only restrict customer flexibility when placing orders but also hinder essential services, including diverse payment methods and loyalty program engagement.

In response to these challenges, a collaborative initiative was launched to enhance the application, aiming to streamline the ordering process and improve the overall customer experience within the Herbalife community. This effort underscores Herbalife's commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction, with the goal of elevating the quality and efficiency of its global network of stores.

Responsibilities

I led a team of designers and researchers who were focused on enhancing Herbalife's Engage® POS Mobile application. Our approach prioritized testing and integrating user feedback to drive the development of improved user flows and functionalities that aligned with customer expectations and business requirements. In my role as Lead UX Designer, I played a key part in designing interactive prototypes, implementing micro animations, introducing new patterns and components, and refining our core system design libraries.

Business Objectives

Enhanced and modernized critical e-commerce features within the Engage® mobile application systems to elevate user experience and enable faster, secure, and seamless functionality across the entire application.

Challenges

Navigating the constraints imposed by outdated backend legacy systems, each with limited functionalities on both fronts, presented a significant challenge. Adapting within the framework of an aging legacy design system necessitated the development of new patterns and components, all while ensuring alignment with the established aesthetics and user experience of the existing system.
