Designing and Implementing AI-Driven Features: Business Insights & Smart Recommendations

Introduction

The HNConnect Mobile App, developed by Herbalife (GTS), serves as a crucial tool for distributors and business partners, streamlining their operations through features like contact management, sales tracking, and volume metric reviews. Recently, the app has been enhanced with a new AI-driven feature named Insights and Recommended Actions, powered by Salesforce Artificial Intelligence. This advanced feature aims to provide real-time business opportunities and actionable recommendations tailored specifically to each user, leveraging AI to offer personalized insights based on comprehensive data analysis.

In addition, we conducted extensive testing to ensure the feature's effectiveness and usability. This involved applying machine learning language and data analysis techniques to refine the AI algorithms and ensure their accuracy. Our research focused on understanding user behavior and needs, which guided our design decisions and optimizations. By integrating rigorous testing and data-driven insights, we were able to deliver a feature that not only enhanced functionality but also provided a seamless and engaging user experience.

Role

Lead Product Designer

In this role, I focused on developing interactive prototypes, micro animations, and new design components while enhancing our design system libraries. Collaborating closely with a team member on UX Lean features, we undertook the redesign of the HNconnect® mobile app, implementing UI enhancements and backend data integration to align with business requirements and integrate new AI features.

Business Objectives

Design, test, and implement a new AI-driven feature for the HNConnect application that empowers users to make informed business decisions and enhance connectivity with their downlines by leveraging historical performance data.

Challenges

The integration of AI into the HNConnect app was challenging, requiring the development of sophisticated algorithms to ensure that recommendations were both highly relevant and specific to each user’s business context. This involved processing and analyzing large volumes of data to seamlessly incorporate these insights into the app while maintaining a user-friendly interface. The result is a significantly enhanced user experience, with distributors receiving targeted, data-driven recommendations that highlight potential opportunities and suggest strategic actions, thereby enabling them to make informed decisions and achieve their business objectives more effectively.
